Abstract:
|
A snapshot of the state level policies currently implemented to promote the use of biomass for energy production is presented. The poster provides the reader with an understanding of the variability of policies and shows the current trends in biomass and related alternative energy policy in different states.
This analysis is paired with results from a recent survey of the wood sector stakeholders including State Foresters, Woody Biomass Contacts, and National Council of Forestry Association Executives to identify opportunities and challenges associated with different types of legislation. The survey asked participants about current efforts to adopt new biomass policy and their knowledge of enacted policy(ies).
Given the rapid development of policy for this young field, periodic analysis of the current policy will help document the trends and identify successful and failed policy.
